Flying Forerunners 2015-2017 / Gatebusters 2014

The Flying Forerunners program is ideal for beginning skiers who want to improve their skills and try racing in a safe, fun, and controlled environment with children in the same age group. Participants must be independent skiers and must be able to manage equipment and ski lifts with minimal assistance. All the coaches for this age group have years of skiing experience, teaching experience, and enjoy working with children. Many are former racers and race parents returning to give back to the program were they began their involvement in the sport. Flying Forerunners and Gatebusters meet on six consecutive Saturdays from the beginning of January through mid-February. Each session includes training, games on snow, and fun races. There is also an end-of-the-season party. Morning training begins at 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM and we ask that all athletes have all their equipment on and a ready to ski at that time. * This program has been updated this season due to Covid guidelines from USSA & NYSSRA.

The 2020-2021 season, will coach our most experienced "U8s" (birth year 2014) will be "Gatebusters". This program uses creative environments and terrain to introduce more advance skills. The passion our coaches bring to the mountain each week is infectious. We encourage these athletes to participate in their first "race" away from Labrador Mountain, The Robin Skiff Pittard Memorial Fun Race at Skaneateles Ski Club.

The Flying Forerunner program costs $200.00 per racer. The U8 program costs $230.00 per racer. This price includes all coaching fees. A NASTAR pass for the athlete will be an additional $20.00 and a pass for Labrador Mountain can be purchased directly from the mountain and is not included in the price of the program. All athletes will need to download and fill out the Club's Medical and Liability Release Form that can be found on Labrador Mountain Ski Club's home page. They should return this to either Head Coach or Program Director prior to the start of the season.
